This program has been inspired by the United Nations' International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures. Because of its mandate, UNESCO has been designated to oversee plans to observe this year. See, for example, the following website:
http://www.unesco.org/en/2010-international-year-for-the-rapprochement-of-cultures/
One of the four designated program themes asks for a focus on "building a framework for commonly shared values." Thus, this program will address the need to promote awareness of universal, transcendental, spiritual values at the United Nations in order to achieve a "Rapprochement of Cultures." It is these spiritual, transcendent and universal values, which represent a more inclusive dimension of consciousness.
